Analysis of film posters

this here is a very simple yet very effective film poster. we can very clearly see the film title and the main character of the film in this poster. this is something that we would like to do also on ours because we want it very effective and eye catching. we can see the character is wearing a suit and this shows that he has power and also he is holding a gun which shows danger and from this we can distinguish that this is a action genre film. the colour scheme is very basic and even dull, but i think this is used so you will concentrate more on the character and his gun. it also has a date when the film will be released and a website, we will need to include these in our poster. it also has the names of the companies which were used to make and produce this film, this is another factor we must include when it comes to making our poster.

Re-shooting

we had to re-shoot a part of the film that we did not like. the first part we shot was when the boss gives the villain orders, the first time was not good enough because we did not symbolise that the boss had the power very well, so therefore we re-shot. the second scene we re-did was when two characters were talking in front of a big green wall, this was just by coincidence and we did not want to send of wrong signals so we re-shot this scene to wearing the same clothes and using the same speech.

Initial ideas - characters

in our trailer we have continued to use the conventional thriller/action convention by having one main villain and one main victim. we believe that this will keep things simple and be more effective. we also believe it will help the audience understand what genre our trailer is better. however we will also have another two characters in this film. one of these characters will be the villains boss and he will be giving out the orders to kill people, and our other character will be assisting the victim in her struggle to survive.

characters
victim - she will be wearing casual clothes to show that there is no real importance to her and that she is just a general women. we have not followed the conventions by using a man also for a victim because we wanted the audience to feel that the women we used is more vulnerable and weaker than a man would be in the situation to add to the suspense.

victims assistant - he will be the strengh behind the victim and will help her escape. we want to give off the image that he himself has a 'bad' side to him but is putting it to good use and therefore we may have a shot of him smoking to show this.

villain - the villain will be in a all black smart suit, the all dark is to have a sense of mystery to him that people wont understand. the suit is to show that he has high power over the victim as well. through parts of the trailer he will have a knife and gun which shows that he will kill people and that he is dangerous.

villains boss - he will also be in a suit to show his power and he will always be sitting in his office barking demands to the villain which shows he is also more powerful than him.

Choosing music for our trailer

for our music we will have three different tracks. the first track will be slow paced, the second will be slightly faster but still tense and the third will be very fast paced which will suit action.




this will be our first piece of music, will we only use it from 1 minuet 49 seconds onwards because we believe that the heartbeat will be very tense and can create a good atmosphere for a thriller. at this point in our trailer we will have slow editing.



this here will be our second track. at this point our trailer will be getting slightly faster and you can here that this track is also faster than the one we used before but it still Carry's the element of suspense in it.



near the end of the trailer we will use this track which is fast paced and can keep up with the fast pace of action that we will be having in our trailer at this point. i be live that it will go very well with the chase scenes near the end of our trailer.

Initial ideas for own video

settings
for our own video will we have the setting in diffrent locations, mainly in a forest and on streets. we will have it in the forest because this will give the feeling that our charector will be isolated and can not get help from anyone because there is no one around. it also gives off the feeling to the audience that they are trapped and this is also a conventional location for a thriller. the streets will be a location to make the film have a feeling of realism and reality, and we will need this if we want to make a connection with our audience.

Mise-en-scene
we will have our charectors with knifes, this way we can show to the audince that there will be violence and action in our film which matches our genre. we will also have the victim in casuel clothes and our killer in a suit, this is to help the audince understasnd thaat our killer is a higher in power and shows her weakness to him. we will have a forest to help get the feel for isolation to which will build a tense atmosphere.

sound effects and music
we will have two main diffrent styles of music in our trailer to help show the genre, we will first use a heartbeat sound effect which will go into music, this is to creat a very tense and intimidating atmosphere for the audince. we will also use fast paced music to keep up with the action and fast paced edeting of our trailer.

dialogue
we plan on not using to much dialogue because we want the music to control the pace of our trailer, however we will use small amounts of dialogue so that it will help the audience understand the story of our film and trailer.

editing and camera angles
we will use many diffrent camera angles throughout the trailer, but one style we have decided to keep throughout the trailer, and that is that it is a low angle shot of the killer throughout, to help show that he has the power. we will use high angle shots for the victim to show that she is weak in comparison. we will also show close ups on peoples faces so that people can see there expressions so that we can show what the emotions that they have, like fear or stress for example.
for editing we cam up with the idea of the trailer starting slower and building up pace as it goes along, this will ease the audince into our trailer better. we are going to start off our trailer slower and making it very tense and then we will change the pace and make it fast with a lot of quick changes in camera angles and shots.
